Origen - a neat fella

Reaction to Valentinianism so profoundly influenced Origen that Holger Strutwolf, in a recent monograph, can refer to Origen’s work asthe reception of Valentinian  Gnosticism” into the mainstream of Christian thought. By this he means not that Origen was a Valentinian, but that, by aprocess involving both acceptance and rejection, he, in effect, appropriated and transformed Valentinianism. An example is the way
Origen treats Christological titles that take on an existence of their own as the
Aeons in the Valentinian Pleroma; as we see in Book I of the Commentary on
John below, he presents these as aspects of the divine and human natures of Christ...

...................................
........................................

For those souls which have not
fully achieved the return to God for which the cosmos exists,
Origen suggests that there may be
some future healing and correction, certainly quite harsh and
full of pain for those who have refused to obey the Word of
God, yet a process of instruction and rational training through
which those who already in the present life have devoted
themselves to such activity and, by having had their minds
purified, have attained here and now to a capacity for divine
wisdom, may advance to a fuller understanding of truth.74

Origen alludes to such a process of purification after death in
Homilies on Jeremiah 12.3 below, explaining to sinners that they
“must taste something very bitter, being under God’s careful
management, so that, having been corrected, [they] may be saved.”
In this purification we make our own fire as we burn with remorse
for our evil deeds.75 Such ideas, which he shared with Clement, provide a possible basis for the doctrine of Purgatory.76 Elsewhere
Origen hints that the notion of eternal punishment, while not
actually true, serves a useful function, since it encourages simpler
Christians, still motivated by fear, not to be complacent
.77 He also
raises the possibility that God has created worlds both before and
after this one.78 He carefully distinguishes this possibility of multiple
worlds from the Stoic doctrine that, because the same inexorable
sequence of causes will remain, each subsequent world will be
identical.79 The logic of his system suggests that all rational beings
will return to their original unity with God, and he leaves open
the possibility that even devils will be saved.80

-Origen by Joseph W Trigg  pp 9, 31

The notion of a purgatory does appear to fit more as a component of the doctrine of reincarnation(even if Origen is not known to be a reincarnationist.... presently) , where the limbo between successive lives is accompanied by "painful rational training" or an ethereal of allegorical fire. In this, Origen treats God as a exaggerating father, who threatens his children (irrespective of who they really are) with harsh punishments, and then contrarily subjects them to moderate and managed chastisement or correction. That position is completely antithetical to the symphony of scores of new and old testament scriptures,  which illustratively indicates a future and final state of torment in the unbridled wrath of God. Further, God does never lie and does never exaggerate or understate His eternal counsels. The first part of the gospel,  the administration of the smell of death or the thunderings of the law of God for the offending sinner [that you go to hell for the sin inherent to everyone] , is here effectively removed and supplanted by a unformidable divine murmuring which  could never provoke a crying out for salvation.

The catholic church could never formally accept Origen's radical teachings of  free will , universalism and recurrence of worlds, because it would have then divested herself of her role as a dispenser of grace and a sanctuary for the sinner. That doesn't mean, however, that the groups at her core accept the orthodoxical position.

Pontida

is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy, located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Milan and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) northwest of Bergamo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,112 and an area of 10.1 square kilometres (3.9 sq mi).[1]
Pontida received the honorary title of city with a presidential decree on July 11, 2006.

Pontida's main claim to historical renown is due to the Oath of Pontida, signed there in 1167 and marking The foundation of the Lombard League,[2] which nine years later would go on to defeat Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa at the Battle of Legnano. The name "Pontida" often appeared in the rhetoric of the 19th century Risorgimento, Italian nationalists seeing this historical event as a precedent and inspiration for their own struggle.

The Return of the King - origins

Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" story of Aragorn (Aragon, where the templars were prevalent), the hidden king in exile, is just a fiction writer's take on catholic plans-prophecies.

"The Lord of the Rings’ is of course a fundamentally religious and Catholic work; unconsciously so at first, but consciously in the revision,” Tolkien wrote in a letter in 1953 to Robert Murray, a Jesuit priest"

St Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney,
AD 1818-1859

«DIEU alors viendra en aide, les bons triompheront, lorsqu’on annoncera le retour du GRAND ROI. Celui-ci rétablira une paix et une prospérité sans égales. La religion refleurira plus que jamais»

"But God shall save all like a sign of the last judgement. God will come to help. The return of the king shall be announced. This will re-establish peace and prosperity. Religion shall fourish again better than ever before . "This shall re-establish a peace and prosperity without precedent."…"The good people will triumph when the return of the King is announced."

Recently, a renowned jesuit theologian and specialist on ecumenism and russian orthodoxy "converted" to Orthodoxy and became a monk at the High Monastery of St. Peter, which is a mile or so away from the Kremlin.

"He adopted Orthodoxy in 2014, after 34 years of priestly ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. With Patriarch Kirill’s blessing Father Constantine joined the fraternity of the High Monastery of St. Peter and before taking monastic vows he worked in churches of the convent, the monastery press service told Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.

Father Constantine was Doctor of Philosophy and professor of Slavic and Russian History in the Pontifical Oriental Institute (Rome), he was its vice rector, member of Jesuit Order, advisor of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity."

It may be that the future king is at this present moment being groomed and prepared in the Vysokopetrovsky monastery, under the guidance and admonitions of Constantine Simon. The Russians do have a concept of the KING-MONK.

An entirely monkish king, however, would contradict the profile painted by the catholic writer Bruce Walters, where the future king has a glorious queen next to him.  We can say that perhaps he will be spiritually devoted to noone, but Mary and will resemble a monk in his humility and piety. After all, monks are very feminine and a typical monk figure is not the type of leader (as opposed to a strong willed, strong chinned, muscle bound, resolute) Russians would prostrate before and embrace.

From the russian monarchist website "the third Rome":

"At the head of Russian state should be a monk and the ruling establishment should also consist of monks,  monks without property. [This is] the only way possible to eradicate corruption and establish the morality of the gospel. Oprichnina [ note- a kind of direct dictatorship of the Tzar and the clergy, set up by Ivan Grozny, rumours say it had a secret police akin to the inquisition of Spain ] is a Russian spiritual weapon for the "end times."

The Emperor himself will lead the future monastic oprichnina army - soldiers of Christ, laborers in the mind-heart chanting of the Jesus prayer [ note - a mantra like prayer popular in Orthodoxy ] who have given a vow of poverty for the sake of God."

Fathers of lies

1 Timothy 4:

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

 ==================================================================

 "Forbidding to marry"

Council of Nicea Canon 3

The great Council has stringently forbidden any bishop, priest, deacon, or any of the clergy, to have a woman living with him, except a mother, sister, aunt, or some such person who is beyond all suspicion.

 "commanding to abstain from meats"

"Although a full record of the acts of the Council of Nicaea of 325 does not survive, one of the actions attributed to it is the fixing, or prefixing, to Easter a fast of 40 days. Every indication is that this 40-day fast was of Egyptian origin, and, in its original purpose, was wholly unconnected with ascetical preparation for the celebration of the Lord’s passion, death, and Resurrection"

"... the rulers of the church ordained fasts by express laws, and commanded as a necessary duty what was before left at discretion....in this age many deemed it sufficient to omit the use of flesh and wine and this sentiment afterwards became universal among the Latins...... "

=========================================================

"Speaking lies in hypocrisy" :

"To these defects in the moral system of the age, must be added two principal errors now wellnigh pubicly adopted, and from which afterwards immense evils resulted. The first was, that to deceive and lie, is a virtue, when religion can be promoted by it. The other was, that errors in religion, when maintained and adhered to after proper admonition, ought to be visited with penalties and punishments

I cannot except Ambrose, nor Hilary, nor Augustine, nor Gregory Nazianzen, nor Jerome......"

- Mosheim, Ecclesiastical History, IV century, Part II, Chapter IV, section 16

 *****************************************************************************

For if the evil of deception is absolute, and it is never right to make use of it, I am prepared to pay any penalty you please: or rather, as you will never endure to inflict punishment upon me, I shall subject myself to the same condemnation which is pronounced by judges on evil-doers when their accusers have convicted them. But if the thing is not always harmful, but becomes good or bad according to the intention of those who practise it, you must desist from complaining of deceit, and prove that it has been devised against you for a bad purpose; and as long as this proof is wanting it would only be fair for those who wish to conduct themselves prudently, not only to abstain from reproaches and accusation, but even to give a friendly reception to the deceiver. For a well-timed deception, undertaken with an upright intention, has such advantages, that many persons have often had to undergo punishment for abstaining from fraud.

And often it is necessary to deceive, and to do the greatest benefits by means of this device, whereas he who has gone by a straight course has done great mischief to the person whom he has not deceived.

- John Chrysostom , On the Priesthood, Book I

Jerome believed Paul was a pathological liar:

"I will only mention the Apostle Paul. ... He, then, if anyone, ought to be calumniated; we should speak thus to him: ‘The proofs which you have used against the Jews and against other heretics bear a different meaning in their own contexts to that which they bear in your Epistles.
We see passages taken captive by your pen and pressed into service to win you a victory, which in volumes from which they are taken have no controversial bearing at all ... the line so often adopted by strong men in controversy – of justifying the means by the result."

– St. Jerome, Epistle to Pammachus (xlviii, 13; N&PNF. vi, 72-73)

The absurd Protestant fantasy of Saint Paul rebuking Saint Peter in Galatians II as a proof against the papacy is often conjured up again today centuries after it was invented by the likes of the Protestant arch-heretics. Like their predecessors they like to use Galatians II vs 11 to shake the faith of Catholics in regard to the papacy......

....Jerome only held what S. Chrysostom did, viz., that the rebuke administered to Peter by Paul was not really intended, but was merely theatrical, it being arranged between them beforehand that Paul should rebuke Peter, not for simulation, but for thoughtless dissimulation, and that Peter should accept the rebuke thus arranged for, that so the Judaisers might be really rebuked in the specious rebuke given to Peter, and with him might clearly understand that Judaising was forbidden.
